Our address is: Pitar Moş Street 7-13, 1st floor. It is also known as the Leon Leviţchi room or the Centre of Excellence for the Study of Cultural Identity.

When is the reading room open?

The BCSC reading room is open from Monday to Friday, between 12:00 pm and 4:00 pm.

Who can access the reading room and borrow library materials?

The BCSC reading room is open to all faculty members, affiliated researchers, staff and students of the University of Bucharest. In order to borrow books at home, both undergraduate and graduate students must, however, apply for a permit. You can do so by presenting your student ID to the secretary of the BCSC and giving him or her your contact details (full name, study programme, year of study, e-mail and/or telephone number). Students who are interested only in a short chapter/article included in one of our volumes, may leave their ID card with the BCSC secretary, xerocopy the required section and return the book on the same day.

How long will my permit be available?

You can opt for a permit lasting either one semester or a full academic year, after which it must be renewed.

How long can I keep a book?

Books can only be borrowed for as long as 2 weeks.

Can I borrow any book available at the BCSC?

Not all library materials available at the BCSC can be borrowed. Reference books and secondary sources included in the English Department’s course syllabi can only be consulted at the BCSC.

What happens if I need to borrow a book outside library opening hours?

In case you need to borrow a book urgently, please contact the BCSC secretary via e-mail or telephone and ask him or her for assistance. Please do not take books home after library hours have ended,  with or without leaving a note or sending a message/e-mail.

Does the BCSC library have access to online academic resources?

Yes. The BCSC library has access to Project Muse and other important databases which you can log into only by connecting to the department’s (free) wireless network.

For further information please contact the BCSC secretary.
