When do admissions take place?
Admissions to the M.A. programme in British Cultural Studies of the University of Bucharest take place twice a year – there is one session in July and another in September.

What are the admission requirements?
Candidates may be graduates of any higher education profile, but must demonstrate their proficiency in the language of instruction, i.e. English.
What is the application and admission process for Romanian, Swiss, European Union and European Economic Space candidates?
The application and admission process for Romanian, Swiss, European Union and European Economic Space candidates consists in three steps:
Step 1: candidates must submit their application at the Office of Admissions (Edgar Quinet St. 5-7), which must include the following documents:
- the filled-in application form (which you will receive from the Office of Admissions)
- high school diploma (original or certified copy, only if the original has been submitted elsewhere)
- B.A. diploma (original or certified copy, only if the original has been submitted elsewhere)
- ID card (copy)
- birth certificate (certified copy)
- marriage certificate (certified copy)
- a letter of good health
- two passport photos
- the application fee payment receipt – candidates must submit their application fee at the Cashier’s Office (Mihail Kogălniceanu Blvd. 36-46)
Step 2: candidates must submit a folder containing the following documents at the British Cultural Studies Centre (Pitar Moş St. 7-13), which will be reviewed by the examination committee:
- a CV
- a letter of application
- 1 or 2 letters of recommendation
- 1 photo
Step 3: candidates will be called for an interview/oral exam. The interview will be held in English and its purpose is to test not only the candidate’s level of English, but also his or her understanding of cultural phenomena. The exam bibliography will be posted on our website’s main page at the start of each application period and can be purchased from the BCSC (20 ron/copy).
What is the application and admission process for international candidates?
International candidates must contact the International Relations Office of the University of Bucharest (Bd. Mihail Kogalniceanu, no. 36-46), where they must submit their application. International candidates will not be asked to take the interview/oral exam, unless they are unable to provide English language certificates.
